Don Bosco, Egmore Global Reunion Converge July 26-27, Chennai
DB Converge was a grand event and could very well be a first of its kind occurrence in India. DB Students from all over the world (USA, UK, UAE, and Germany) converged @ DB. DB Converge started off with the Conclave @ ITC Grand Chola, (a venue that exhibits the architectural prowess of Cholas, conceptualized and led by a DB Alumni). I am glad I made it to Chennai on time for the event and just listening to all the speakers @ Conclave was a jet lag killer. The Conclave was moderated by Sashi Kumar, Founder, Asianet and the illustrious list of speakers from the DB alumni included Vijay Amritaraj, Y.Gee Mahendra, Dr. V Sumatran, Antony Jacob, Keshav Murugesh, Arvind Swami, Sanjay Pinto and Arman Ebrahim.

The actual event (Converge) started sometime in the afternoon with an Assembly kick-off by the DB Rector & Principal. The Assembly kick-off happened @ the school auditorium built in 1997. Just after the assembly session, we were back to our classes and the renowned DB teachers were back to their business which they do best – Teach. Our batch of ‘97 attended sessions with Rajapandi Sir (the great chemistry teacher), Krishnan Sir (Physics) and Satur Miss (Biology). Rajapandi Sir correlated chemistry with everyday life. He advised the students to adjust with their wives and also assist them in cooking / day-day stuff (generational shift). It got us thinking, Thank you Sir.

Photo Exhibition showcasing the best of DB was @ the Main School. We got to re-live the DB days and no photo exhibit @ DB will be able to miss the chess grand master, Vishwanathan Anand. It was great to meet fellow batch mates, seniors and juniors at school. You recognize those seniors and juniors and have a little chat with the DB Connect.

The best part of Converge was in the evening of July 27. The legendary DB Teachers were honored with an appreciation award for their tremendous contribution to what DB Students are today. It was a way of showing the gratitude that Don Bosco, Egmore taught every student. It was nice to click pictures and share memories with teachers (and they recognized us!).
Food is always @ its best at any DB event (served by restaurants owned by DB Alumni). T-Shirts were sponsored by DB Alumni as well. A world class Science center is planned to be constructed at the School. Thank you, Rector Rev. Fr. John Alexander and Principal Rev. Fr. Y.L.Irudayaraj. Congratulations to Ashwin Rajagopalan, DB Converge Convenor (1989 batch) and the entire organizing team of DB Converge. We are so thankful that you put together a world class event for the Global DB Alumni in our very school DB Egmore.
Don Bosco Egmore is headed back to its glory days and the best is yet to come. Virtus in Arduis.
